Ralph Ovadal (born August, 1951) is the pastor of Pilgrims Covenant Church in Monroe, Wisconsin. He is an Independent Reformed Baptist. Ovadal is well known for his opposition to modern Bible translations, the Roman Catholic church, New Calvinism, homosexuality, abortion, ecumenism and for the many gospel ministry events he has led, including in front of Roman Catholic shrines. Pastor Ovadal has a weekly program broadcast on SermonAudio.com entitled "The Heart of the Matter." == Activism == Ovadal has criticized the behavior of Topeka's Fred Phelps, pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church〔()〕 and labeled Phelps' female family members as "profanity-spewing, angry Amazons".〔()〕 From 1988 – 1992, Ovadal was arrested approximately 120 times for non-violent intervention on behalf of the unborn at abortion clinics, resulting in the loss of his driver’s license for ten years, "a considerable amount of time in jail," and other punishments. In various cases having to do with religious liberty and free speech, Pastor Ovadal has been successful in court. For instance, a challenge mounted by Ovadal in Federal court against the city of Monroe, WI over ordinances restricting public demonstration eventually resulted in an out-of-court settlement in Ovadal's favor and the repeal of the disputed ordinances.
